Pampers diaper brand and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, a pediatric medical and academic research center, have jointly launched the “Cincinnati Children’s Bang Bao Research Scholar Program” in Beijing today to further advance research in child health and development. As part of a Partnership to Advance the Healthy Development of Children in China, this new three-year project will sponsor a group of Chinese pediatric scholars to train at Cincinnati Children’s under the direction of senior faculty in major areas of research. The Cincinnati Children’s Bang Bao Research Scholar Program, an academic program sponsored by Pampers and created by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, will involve children’s and maternity hospitals, and related research institutions and universities in the Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing and Kunming. The scholarships will be awarded to promising early- to mid-career pediatric scholars in China and include one year’s research and training at Cincinnati Children’s in Cincinnati, plus $25,000 for continued research at their home institutions in China. The Bang Bao scholarships will be awarded this summer by Cincinnati Children’s to up to eight researchers. Based on current needs of pediatric medicine in China, the scholars’ study will relate to one of eight areas including: human milk protective factors in relation to risk of viral infections, maintaining healthy skin in young children, and prematurity and innate immunity.
